New Play Award 2011

The 2011 New Play Award will be announced during the 40th Annual KTA Statewide Conference in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Roots of the Bluegrass New Play Award

The 3rd Roots of the Bluegrass New Play Award competition has announced the semifinalist playwrights. Three finalists will be selected from the list of ten below. These three plays will receive staged readings at the 40th Annual Fall Conference in Madisonville Kentucky on November 11, 2011. Please plan to attend when the winning playwright will be announced at the end of the evening.

2011 Rules and Regulations

The 3rd Roots of the Bluegrass New Play Award competition starts August 1, 2011.  The annual contest which is open to all Kentucky playwrights, now includes a new category for musicals. The contest is free to all Kentuckians, including out-of-state residents, who resided in Commonwealth for a minimum of three years. Submission deadline is August 31, 2011.

The Adjudication Process:

The winning playwright will receive a $250 cash prize, award plaque, and publicity.

All finalists will be offered a free hotel night in Madisonville KY, as well as free registration to the conference.    In addition, KTA will promote all 3 works within its network of member theatres throughout the state via the website and newsletter.
