Kentucky Youth Deserve High Quality Arts Education

The Kentucky Theatre Association has joined hands with other statewide arts education organizations, the Kentucky Music Educators Association, the Kentucky Art Educators Association, and the Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance to form a new coalition, the Kentucky Coalition of Arts Educators.

Together these constituent organizations represent thousands of music, art, drama, and dance teachers across the state of Kentucky from primary grades through the college/university level. The purpose of the Coalition is to provide a unified voice to support high quality arts education for all.

Over the past several months the Coalition has actively supported Kentucky’s new accountability in the Arts, the Program Review in Arts and Humanities. KCAE has spoken to the Kentucky Board of Education in support of Program Reviews and consulted with members of the Kentucky Department of Education. Plans are underway for KCAE members to be part of the Professional Development Day for teachers at KTA’s November conference.

KTA’s representatives to the Coalition are KTA President Doug Sumey and Vice President Jane Dewey.

Contact Jane Dewey.for more information.
